About Lunya
Lunya is a women’s and men’s apparel brand that focuses on stylish sleepwear, loungewear, and accessories. Their tagline is #goodinbed and they promote their apparel as able to help you sleep better.
The brand was founded by Ashley Merril who was looking to elevate Otium, known as the period when work is done, and you’re winding down. Otium is “the time when we withdraw from our daily business to enjoy leisure time and life’s most simple pleasures” and that’s exactly what Lunya aims to achieve through their luxurious yet minimal pieces that are made you feel good.
They offer apparel made from washable silks, linen, and plush knits and their collections include matching pajama sets, sleep dresses, bedding, and sleep accessories.
In our Lunya clothing review, we will give you an in-depth look at the brand, including its products, price points, and policies in order to help you decide if the hefty price tag is worth buying.
Lunya Review
Seattle is cold in the winter and I love a cozy sleep set. I opted for their cozy cotton pieces to test out.
I received the following Lunya products to review in this post:
- Cozy Cotton Silk Crew Neck Pullover ($228) – This crew neck knit sweater is so versatile. I can wear it lounging around the home or under a trench or pea coat for a chic look when going about town.
- Cozy Cotton Silk Jogger ($228) – The joggers are amazing! They have pockets and the fabric is so plush and soft.
The items came in a large cardboard box and were neatly wrapped in plastic.
Lunya Pros
- Super Soft Fabrics – Lunya’s fabrics are super plush and soft. You’ll want to wear their pieces all day long. They also stay plush after machine washing them.
- Runs True to Size (TTS) – Their styles run true to size. Lunya suggests that if you’re between sizes, to size down, but we think you should just go a size up so that you’re more comfortable. No one likes wearing tight pajamas.
- Slip Prevention – Their apparel has rubber grips to prevent sliding and slippage.
- Machine Washable – One of their main selling points is how little maintenance their apparel requires. You can simply throw your items in the washing machine and wash them on a gentle cycle with cold water and tumble dry on low. We prefer to use a mesh wash bag and then hang dry our pieces instead. Lunya also provides very helpful care instructions for all their fabrics.
- Fabrics Do Not Shrink! We recommend washing your sleepwear before sleeping in them for the first time. The fabrics do not shrink and feel just as soft as they did coming out of the package.
- Sets have Thermoregulation – One of Lunya’s biggest selling points for their silk and alpaca sets is that they’re thermoregulating. The materials keep your body cool when it’s hot and warm when it’s cold. Silk is a protein fiber, with similar qualities to human skin, while alpaca fibers have microscopic air pockets which make it lighter and even more thermoregulating than wool.
Lunya Cons
- Expensive – Their sleepwear sets will run you around $180-$200 a set.
- No pricing transparency. For as expensive of sleepwear as this is, the brand would benefit from pricing and manufacturing transparency.
- Sets are not sold separately. You will have to buy a top and bottom sleep set together.
- Very Long Inseam – The inability to select an inseam length is not bad but not ideal for shorter customers.
- Plastic Packaging – Their products come with the pieces individually wrapped in plastic.
Lunya Sizing Guide
Lunya products run true to size. We recommend going with your true size. If you’re in between sizes, we recommend sizing up so that your apparel fits comfortably.
Lunya apparel is intended to fit loosely so that you can fully relax and be comfortable during your otium time or while you sleep.
Should I Shop at Lunya?
I never thought I’d be endorsing $200+ pajamas, but here we are. I love their apparel and believe the brand is not compromising on quality in any way, so the high price tag is definitely worth the hype.
If Lunya isn’t precisely within your budget, you can always buy their pieces secondhand or brand new on marketplace apps such as Poshmark and Mercari.
Quince also sells a comparable silk pajama set and silk slip dress that is worth checking out.
If you’re new to Lunya, we recommend giving these items a try:
- Washable Silk Bias Slip Dress ($218)
- Washable Silk Tulip Dress ($198)
- Washable Silk Pajama Set ($188)
- Washable Silk Cami Pant Set ($248)
